Civil Engineering Associate Los Angeles Department of Water and Power LOS ANGELES, California, United States
Navigating the water sector from two perspectives, I serve as a Civil Engineering Associate at Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and an elected Board Director for Crescenta Valley Water District (CVWD). With nearly 10 years of experience in water recycling and a current focus on water rights in the Eastern Sierra Environment Group at LADWP, I bring knowledge from the nation’s largest municipality to my role in a smaller community. This dual perspective provides insights into how principles learned in engineering can be applied to local governance and public policy. In this session, I’ll explore how engineering and public policy intersect to drive sustainable solutions, the challenges of serving both urban and smaller communities, and how policy decisions shape water management. Join me to learn how to leverage engineering expertise to influence public policy, advocate for sustainability, and make a lasting impact in your community.
Learning Objectives:
Analyze how engineering principles can influence governance and policymaking.
Evaluate engineering’s role in shaping policy for unique community needs.
Leverage engineering expertise to advocate for sustainable solutions.
