Lorena Bejarano holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Stony Brook University, USA. She is currently the Head of the Mechanical Engineering program at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador, where she also serves as a professor and researcher. Lorena specializes in scanning electron microscopy SEM and her research focuses on material characterization, sustainable development, clean and efficient cooking, and alternative energy solutions to combat climate change. She has contributed to studies on coatings, biomaterials, alternative materials, clean cooking, and archaeological materials. Lorena has published scientific papers in indexed journals, including Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, International Journal of Sustainable Engineering, Energy Policy, and PNAS Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. She holds a patent and has been a guest speaker at various national and international conferences. SWE-USFQ group leader.
