Asha Smith is an Engineering Sub-Section Manager at GE Aerospace. She currently manages a team of 12 Transient Performance Engineers working to test and certify the next generation of commercial jet engines. Asha has been with GE for over 13 years and has conducted several hundred interviews in this time – spanning from informal Get To Knows, phone screening interviews, panel interviews for the GE Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP) as well as multi-layered interviews for direct hires for her section. As an active recruiter for both University of Michigan and Purdue University, Asha has also given several “how to interview” talks to students on campus and has conducted “the art of the Get To Know” seminar for aspiring women Engineers in GE’s Cultivate program. Asha is neurodivergent and she has realized how much of an advantage her neurodivergence has been.
