Silvia Karlsson is the Aerodynamics CFD Methodology Manager for General Motors Motorsports. She has recently also managed aerodynamics for GM’s production performance cars such as the Corvette and Camaro. About four and a half years ago, after exclusively working on production cars, Silvia was tasked with assembling a team to focus on NASCAR. Since then, she has successfully built a NASCAR aerodynamics team and expanded her efforts to other motorsports series, ultimately reaching the pinnacle of motorsports aerodynamics: Formula 1. GM recently secured its entry as the first American F1 team. Throughout this journey, Silvia has led, innovated, and guided her team. She has also applied the lessons learned from motorsports to enhance the workflow and agility of GM’s production vehicles. A lifetime and fellow SWE member, Silvia is currently serving as the Society Treasurer.
