Sylvie DeLaHunt is the assistant supervisor of the Discovery Program, a technical rotational program for select recent graduates at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). Simultaneously, she is a senior guidance, navigation, and control engineer and technical leader conducting work in support of the US Department of Defense. Sylvie is the Implementation Co-Lead on the SWE Awards and Recognition Committee, a committee member through the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and a public speaker and author of op-eds on the inclusion and belonging of women in engineering. In recognition of her volunteer leadership and professional achievements, she received the SWE Esteemed New Professional Member, Emerging Advocate, and WE Local Engaged Advocate, Women in Aerospace Initiative-Inspiration-Impact, and University of Maryland Elaine Johnson Coates awards. Sylvie earned her B.S. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland with support of a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
