Marely Vélez Delgado is a fourth-year Chemical Engineering student at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador. Originally from another city, she is the only woman in her family pursuing engineering. Coming from a family of strong and influential women, she has grown up with the example that it is possible to balance a professional career and personal life while staying true to oneself. Marely challenges stereotypes and reinforces the idea that STEM fields are not incompatible with femininity or personal values. Her education and experiences have given her insight into both the challenges and the beauty of being a woman in a technical field, highlighting the importance of perseverance and equity in engineering.
