Diversity’s beauty is expressed through us in many forms such as ethnicity, gender, personality…add to that introversion, sensitivity, and empathy. These traits can make it more challenging to navigate the technical industry and the corporate world, whose rules and infrastructure were not designed with sensitive people in mind. We feel we must work harder, toughen up, mask our sensitivities, suppress our emotions, and hide our true selves to belong and succeed. This can lead to feeling left out, off-balance, and burned out. I want to share my story as a highly sensitive empathic introvert in tech and what I learned about introversion, sensitivity, and empathy: my superpowers. I will show you how my experiences, challenges, and lessons resulted in tips and tools that attendees can use to embrace their own story, deepen the connection to themself and others, and authentically navigate and thrive in the corporate world.
Learning Objectives:
Describe attributes and benefits of being introverted, sensitive, and empathic.
Differentiate between self-imposed and externally-imposed limits and conditioning.
Practice techniques to prevent burnout from overstimulation.
